Evening Prayer Thursday August 5th 2021

Our prayers examine scripture and support our response in a prayerful and reflective way. Arek leads Evening and Morning Prayer this week. Evening Prayer – Arek reminds us that we can light a candle (or switch on a light if you don’t have a candle), which reminds us to ask for the light of Christ to reach the corners of our hearts and minds. Arek encourages us to consider and challenge ourselves – asking if there were things we chose to hold onto today, rather than give away? Lastly he recites this beautiful prayer; “You have given all to me. To you, Lord, I return it. Everything is yours; do with it what you will. Give me only your love and your grace, That is enough for me. Amen.”

Music: Be Thou My Vision. Recorded remotely by the Choral Scholars of St Martin-in-the-Fields Church in their homes, and edited together. Author: Poem attributed to St Dallan, 6th Century, set to a traditional Irish ballad ‘Slane’, combined for the Irish Hymnal, 1919.
