Evening Prayer Thursday December 23rd 2021

Our prayers examine scripture and support our response in a prayerful and reflective way. Matilda leads Evening and Morning Prayer this Advent time. Evening Prayer – Matilda contemplates the future, asking us what we can do for tomorrow and prays for Afghanistan whose people face the bleakest of winters – reading a prayer from Tearfund – a Christian charity which partners with churches in more than 50 of the world’s poorest countries. www.tearfund.org/campaigns/afghanistan-emergency-appeal

The Sans Day Carol is a traditional, Cornish carol, named after the village ‘St Day’ where the carol was found in the early 20th century. Music transcribed by Gilbert Hunter Doble (1880 – 1945), from the singing of Penzance singer – W.D. Watson. Recorded remotely by the Choral Scholars of St Martin-in-the-Fields Church in their homes, and edited together.
