Morning Prayer Monday July 12th 2021

Revd. Bennett leads both Morning and Evening Prayer this week. Today’s Morning Prayer – Bennett considers a passage from Luke’s gospel, chapter 20 verses 20.41 to 21.4. This describes Jesus’ publicly stated advice to his disciples to condemn the temple’s scribes’ love of position, and the power and wealth if brought them; “They will receive the greater condemnation.” Jesus goes further, observing that a poor, widow’s gift to the treasury of small copper coins, to be of far greater worth than the easily-given donations of the rich to the temple; “for all of them have contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in all she had to live on.”
