Roberta leads both Morning and Evening Prayer this week. Today’s Morning Prayer – Roberta considers a passage from Mark’s gospel, chapter 7, verses 24 to 30. This passage describes Jesus’ arrival at a house in the non-Jewish town of Tyre, now in Lebanon – situated by the Mediterranean sea – the inference being that Gentile regions were not out of bounds to Jesus’ when teaching. Jesus needed quiet and seclusion when visiting a house in Tyre, instead a Gentile woman who heard of his visit, asked Jesus for his help. Jesus’ response to her humble insistence, was to heal her child.
