Miriam is one of St Thomas’ Church Wardens and she will lead both Morning and Evening Prayer this week. Today’s Morning Prayer – Miriam considers a passage from Mark’s gospel, chapter 10, verses 1 to 16. This scripture considers Jesus’ teachings to the crowds that followed him and his response to the line of questioning of some Pharisees around marriage. Jesus also demonstrates the value he placed upon children, rebuking his disciples for trying to keep them away from him; “‘Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs. Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it.’ And he took them up in his arms, laid his hands on them, and blessed them.”
