Roberta leads both Morning and Evening Prayer this week. Today’s Morning Prayer – Roberta considers a passage from Mark’s gospel, chapter 7, verses 14 to 23. This passage describes Jesus’s talking to a crowd about goodness and purity of heart, which can be debased by many things, but not by the restrictions at the time on what could be eaten, imposed by the Pharisees. Jesus asks us to consider not just how we behave to one another but to consider what we believe and truly feel in the heart of our being.”‘Then he called the crowd again and said to them, ‘Listen to me, all of you, and understand: there is nothing outside a person that by going in can defile, but the things that come out are what defile..’”
