Ansai leads both Morning and Evening Prayer this week, in the season of Lent (marking the 40 days Jesus spent in the desert). Morning Prayer – Ansai reads a passage from Hebrews, Chapter 2, verse 10 to the end. This scripture considers Jesus’ perfect relationship with us and all that he suffered and won for us. This passage discusses how Jesus came to live amongst us and why; “Therefore he had to become like his brothers and sisters in every respect, so that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make a sacrifice of atonement for the sins of the people. Because he himself was tested by what he suffered, he is able to help those who are being tested.”
We pray for the people of Ukraine and Russia and for world peace. We pray for wise decision-making and for the moral integrity of all world leaders in the face of evil – most especially this morning.
