Morning Prayer Friday April 1st 2022

Revd Bennett Spong leads both Morning and Evening Prayer this week, in the season of Lent (marking the 40 days Jesus spent in the desert). Morning Prayer – Bennett reads a passage from Hebrews, Chapter 10, verse 26 to the end. This scripture considers the consequences of deliberately no longer following God; “For yet ‘in a very little while, the one who is coming will come and will not delay; but my righteous one will live by faith. My soul takes no pleasure in anyone who shrinks back.’ But we are not among those who shrink back and so are lost, but among those who have faith and so are saved.”

We pray for the people of Ukraine and Russia and for world peace. We pray for wise decision-making and for the moral integrity of all world leaders in the face of evil – most especially this morning.

Hireath’ – this translates from the original Welsh as a ‘deep longing for something, especially home’, composed by Scott Buckley (Creative Commons Music).
