Roberta is a SPA at St Luke’s church – and she leads both Morning and Evening Prayer this week. Morning Prayer – Roberta reads a passage from the book of Galatians, Chapter 3, verses 1 to 14, where Paul the Apostle writes to a group of early Christian communities in Galatia (now part of modern day Turkey). This scripture explains Paul’s message – that faith matters above following the letter of religious law – Jesus inspires us to be faithful rather than unquestioningly observant; “‘The one who is righteous will live by faith.’ But the law does not rest on faith; on the contrary, ‘Whoever does the works of the law will live by them.’ Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, ‘Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree’—in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”
We pray for the people of Ukraine and Russia, for world peace, for wise decision-making and the moral integrity of all world leaders – most especially this morning.
