Morning Prayer Friday November 19th 2021

Jim, St Thomas’ Church Warden, leads both Morning and Evening Prayer this week. Today’s Morning Prayer – Jim considers a passage from Matthew’s gospel, chapter 8 verse 23 to the end. This scripture describes Jesus’ response to the fear shown by his disciples during a storm, while sailing across the Sea of Galilee towards Gergesa (now called the Golan Heights); “‘And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. A gale arose on the lake, so great that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. And they went and woke him up, saying, ‘Lord, save us! We are perishing!’ And he said to them, ‘Why are you afraid, you of little faith?’” This scripture also describes Jesus expelling demons into a herd of pigs, and the fear of the local, Gadarenes, who on hearing of this, asked Jesus to leave.
