Miriam is one of St Thomas’ Church Wardens and she will lead both Morning and Evening Prayer this week. Today’s Morning Prayer – Miriam considers a passage from Mark’s gospel, chapter 10, verses 32 to 34. This scripture describes Jesus and his disciples walking towards Jerusalem and Jesus’ attempts to prepare the disciples for his imminent torture, crucifixion and resurrection; ‘See, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death; then they will hand him over to the Gentiles; they will mock him, and spit upon him, and flog him, and kill him; and after three days he will rise again.’
