Judith B leads both Morning and Evening Prayer this week. Morning Prayer – Judith reads a passage from the Second Epistle of Paul to Timothy, chapter 1, verses 1 to 14. This scripture considers the Apostle Paul’s advice, given to his younger colleague Timothy, where Paul encourages Timothy to use the courage he has inherited from his ancestors to withstand the privations of being a disciple and to use the same courage to speak the truth of the message of the Gospel; “Do not be ashamed, then, of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner, but join with me in suffering for the gospel, relying on the power of God, who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works but according to his own purpose and grace. This grace was given to us in Christ Jesus before the ages began, but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Saviour Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.”
