Morning Prayer Saturday September 4th 2021

Amelia and Laura lead both Morning and Evening Prayer this week. Today’s Morning Prayer – Laura and Amelia consider a passage from Mark’s gospel, chapter 9, verses 30 to 37. This scripture considers the disciples and Jesus’ journey to Capernaum, a town on the northwestern shore of the Sea of Galilee. The passage describes how Jesus tried to prepare his disciples for his death, on this journey, however, his disciples had argued about which one of them was the greatest disciple, so when they arrived at the house where they were due to spend the night, Jesus; “sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, ‘Whoever wants to be first must be last of all and servant of all.’ Then he took a little child and put it among them; and taking it in his arms, he said to them, ‘Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes not me but the one who sent me.’”
