Morning Prayer Thursday July 22nd 2021

Jim, St Thomas’ Church Warden, leads both Morning and Evening Prayer this week. Today’s Morning Prayer – Jim considers a passage from Mark’s gospel, chapter 15 verse 40 to chapter 16 verse 7. This scripture describes the placing of Jesus’ body in a tomb by Joseph of Arimathea. This scripture also tells the story of Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome who, having bought spices to anoint Jesus’ dead body, discover his body had gone; “As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man, dressed in a white robe, sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed. But he said to them, ‘Do not be alarmed; you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been raised; he is not here”.
