St Luke’s Day and calendar during week beginning Sunday 15 October

Throughout this week, you are invited to join us for worship and other social activities.

Sunday 15 October, 10.00am – Festival Eucharist for St Luke’s Day

This Sunday, all our community will worship together at 10.00am to celebrate St Luke’s Day. Our service will take place in St Luke’s Church and will be livestreamed to people at home. Joining the celebration will be Alastair Cutting, our Archdeacon. We’re delighted that Alastair will admit 17 young people to receive their First Communion.

Please be aware there is no service at St Thomas’ Church this Sunday, and everyone is invited to worship together at St Luke’s.

Whether you join the service in St Luke’s Church or via the livestream, it will be wonderful to worship together – united in prayer, love and fellowship.

Sunday 15 October – Bible Study

Following the Parish Eucharist, there will be a short break before a Bible Study begins. The study is online. Please stay on the Zoom meeting or come back at about 11.30am to take part.

Sunday 15 October – Horn Fair

The St Luke’s Day celebrations continue when the community of Charlton come together for the Horn Fair. There’ll be lots of fun in Charlton House, Charlton Park and at St Luke’s Church.

Sunday 15 October, 9.00pm – Compline

We finish our Sunday with a short service of Compline (or night prayers). We meet on Zoom where you can join online or dial in on any telephone.

Tuesday 17 October – Tuesday Group

The Tuesday Group at St Thomas’ Church meets from 10.00am. It is a time when you can meet with friends and make new friends. Some people choose to relax and have a chat over a cuppa. Others prefer to join the group tend the garden or help out with some maintenance. You can also stay for lunch. However you choose to spend the time, you can be guaranteed of a warm welcome.

Tuesday 17 October, 6.00pm – Evening Prayer

We meet in the beautiful chapel at St Richard’s Church Centre for a service of Evening Prayer at 6.00pm. The entrance to the chapel is in Sundorne Road.

Wednesday 18 October, 10.00am – Play Café

The Play Café for 0-3 year olds takes place at St Richard’s Church Centre on Wednesday’s, 10.00-11.30am. While the children play, parents and carers can chat and catch up over a cuppa.

Wednesday 18 October, 6.00pm – Community Choir

The Community Choir practices every Wednesday in St Luke’s Church and is open to everyone. We meet for an hour at St Luke’s Church and are a mixed group of young and old, as well as those who are new to signing and others who are more experienced singers. You’ll be guaranteed a friendly welcome.

Thursday 19 October, 10.00am – Coffee Morning

Join us from 10.00am at St Luke’s for a chance to catch up with friends and make new friends too. As well as having a chat, this is a great opportunity to look around our historic church.

Thursday 19 October, 12 noon – Holy Communion

Following the Coffee Morning, a simple midweek service of Holy Communion takes place at St Luke’s. Everyone is welcome.

There is no sermon, but there is music for reflection and prayers are said for the church, world, community and those in need. This oasis in the middle of the week may be just what you need.

Thursday 19 October, 6.00pm – Evening Prayer

We’re back in the chapel at St Richard’s Church Centre for a service of Evening Prayer at 6.00pm. The entrance to the chapel is in Sundorne Road.

Saturday 21 October, 2.00 – 4.00pm – Messy Church

There’s be fun for all the family at Messy Church on Saturday. Everyone is welcome at St Richard’s Church Centre.
