Worship and activities during week beginning Sunday 10 December

Throughout this week, you are invited to join us for worship and other social activities.

Sunday 10 December, 10.00am – Parish Eucharist

It is the Second Sunday of Advent and we’ll be celebrating the Eucharist at St Luke’s and St Thomas’ churches. Everyone is welcome to our services at 10.00am.

At St Luke’s we will have our monthly All Age Worship. The Eucharist from St Thomas’ will be livestreamed to people at home. To join the service online you can use this link to YouTube. Sunday 10 December – Bible Study

Following the Parish Eucharist, there will be a short break before a Bible Study begins. The study is online. Please stay on the Zoom meeting or come back at about 11.30am to take part.

Sunday 10 December, 4.00pm – Christmas Singalong

There’ll be fun for everyone at the Christmas Singalong at St Thomas’ Church. Join us to sing your favourite carols and songs, and join us for some mince pies and mulled wine

Sunday 10 December, 9.00pm – Compline

We finish our Sunday with a short service of Compline (or night prayers). We meet on Zoom where you can join online or dial in on any telephone.

Tuesday 12 December – Tuesday Group

The Tuesday Group at St Thomas’ Church meets from 10.00am. It is a time when you can meet with friends and make new friends. Some people choose to relax and have a chat over a cuppa. Others prefer to join in with some gardening or DIY tasks. You can also stay for lunch. However you choose to spend the time, you can be guaranteed of a warm welcome.

Tuesday 12 December, 6.00pm – Evening Prayer

We meet in the beautiful chapel at St Richard’s Church Centre for a service of Evening Prayer at 6.00pm. The entrance to the chapel is in Sundorne Road.

Wednesday 13 December, 10.00am – Play Café

The Play Café for 0-3 year olds takes place at St Richard’s Church Centre on Wednesday’s, 10.00-11.30am. While the children play, parents and carers can chat and catch up over a cuppa.

Wednesday 13 December, 6.00pm – Community Carol Service

Everyone is invited to the Charlton Community Carol Service on Wednesday 13 December, 7.00pm at St Luke’s Church. Friends from a variety of different community groups in Charlton will read the Christmas story. There’ll be music from our Community Choir and other groups. And well all sing our favourite Christmas Carols. After the Carol Service we’ll mince pies and mulled wine.

Thursday 14 December, 10.00am – Coffee Morning

Join us from 10.00am at St Luke’s for a chance to catch up with friends and make new friends too. As well as having a chat, this is a great opportunity to look around our historic church.

Thursday 14 December, 12 noon – Holy Communion

Following the Coffee Morning, a simple midweek service of Holy Communion takes place at St Luke’s. Everyone is welcome.

There is no sermon, but there is music for reflection and prayers are said for the church, world, community and those in need. This oasis in the middle of the week may be just what you need.

Thursday 14 December, 6.00pm – Evening Prayer

We’re back in the chapel at St Richard’s Church Centre for a service of Evening Prayer at 6.00pm. The entrance to the chapel is in Sundorne Road.

Saturday 16 December, 2.00pm – Messy Christmas

Our monthly Messy Church for December will have a Christmas theme. We’ll meet at St Richard’s Church Centre on Saturday 16 December, 2.00-4.00pm. Everyone is welcome to join in fun for all the family.

NEXT SUNDAY, 17 December

Next Sunday is the Third Sunday of Advent. As well as the Parish Eucharist at 10.00am, we’ll be holding our Christingle event at St Thomas’ Church from 2.00pm. There’ll be creative activities followed by a short family service at 3.00pm.

At 4.00pm we’ll celebrate Christmas at St Richard’s. Everyone is invited to join in the festivities and performers are invited to bring a Christmas song, poem or spoken word piece to contribute to the occasion. There will be seasonal snacks and treats too.
